Ayse Gezen

Description
Ayse Gezen's figures are not merely the product of formal exploration: they carry within them a wounded, sensitive memory, shaped by life's journeys and moments when one finds oneself far from familiar surroundings. The artist delicately explores this feeling of distance, this search for a place to settle, a space where one recognizes oneself.

Her silhouettes, pared down to the extreme, without face or precise identity, embody universal bodies. They represent no one in particular, and yet they speak to us of everyone. They are the standing fragments of a displaced, silent, sometimes erased humanity – but always present.

Their restrained postures, their austere verticality, their vacant stares are all challenges. They are suspended figures, imbued with absence, confronting us with the fragility of the human condition. Implicitly, they tell of loss, of wandering, and of the faint hope of finding a place to belong. The earth bears witness to what humanity tries to forget.
