Description

This stool was handcrafted in France using wood carefully reclaimed from former carpenters. The seat and legs are made of light ash, while the crossbars combine oak and sipo in an asymmetrical composition that creates a warm and natural contrast.

The visible, metal-free joints are inspired by revisited traditional techniques. The understated structure highlights the precision of the interlocking. In the lower part, the crosspieces are fixed by dovetails locked with wedges. In the upper part, the legs fit into pegged forks called “gargoyles”. The slightly flared legs and architectural design evoke traditional carpentry, with a Japanese sensibility reminiscent of the sashimono spirit and the Japandi style. Each edge is softened by hand, giving the piece a subtle harmony, far from industrial rigidity.

The finish is made with natural camellia oil, which reveals the grain of the wood, nourishes the material for a long time and offers a silky feel.

Its deliberately slim silhouette gives it a delicate, almost ephemeral character, inviting you to pamper it. Yet its strength is proven; the stool has been statically tested to over 120 kg. It can therefore be used as a seat, a small bench, a display stand, or a side table.

Each copy is unique, stamped and numbered.
