Description
This bench was crafted in its creator's workshop using wood salvaged from retired carpenters. The top is made of Sipo, a dense, warm wood with shimmering highlights. Two of its legs are carved from the same wood, the other two from light ash, to create a natural contrast. The crosspieces, made of oak and ash, complete the ensemble.
Each piece is assembled by hand, without metal. At the bottom, the crosspieces are secured with dovetail joints locked with wedges. At the top, the legs fit into pegged gargoyles, a solid and aesthetic assembly, inspired by carpentry techniques.
After carving, the bench is carefully sanded by hand, respecting the grain of the wood. The finish is made with camellia oil, used in cosmetics and food, which gives a silky touch and a light satin patina.
It can be placed in an entryway, used as an occasional bench, or even as a small, low console table. As with any oiled piece of furniture, it is best to avoid prolonged splashes of water.
Each piece is unique, stamped and numbered.
