Raynal Vincent
Description
This stool was handcrafted in France using wood carefully reclaimed from veteran carpenters. The seat and legs are made of Sipo, a dense and warm wood. The high ash crossbars add a touch of brightness, while the low crossbars, a blend of oak and Sipo, are central to the piece's identity.
Their design is initially rooted in Dogon inspiration, with a sculptural approach inherited from African traditions. Then, through a gradual shift, this base was enriched with more contemporary references, to the point of evoking the powerful and theatrical contrasts of Batman and the Joker. This path gives the stool a dual interpretation: roots and heritage on one side, tension and modernity on the other.
The visible, metal-free assemblies use revisited traditional techniques. The deliberately expressive legs accentuate this sense of freedom and controlled imbalance. The ensemble creates a unique silhouette, both architectural and imbued with an almost narrative energy.
The finish is made with natural camellia oil, which reveals the grain of the wood, provides lasting protection and offers a silky feel.
At the crossroads of a utilitarian object and a statement piece, this stool can be used as a seat, side table or display stand.
